AJ Hackett Bungy - History
It all started with the people of Vanuatu on Pentecoast Island in the Pacific who have been throwing themselves from huge towers for centuries with only a few vines tied to their feet.
In 1986, AJ Hackett saw a Video of some young English thrillseekers doing a couple of jumps with some elastic bands in the late seventies. The imagination really kicked in, and it was off to develop a safe, standard method of jumping. Modern Bungee Jumping was born. After some extensive testing on latex rubber cords a series of extreme jumps were made (1987 AJ jumped the Eiffeltower in Paris etc…). In November 1988 the worlds first commercial Bungysite opened at the Kawarau Bridge NewZealand. Finally a independent method of safety assurance was needed. The development of the worlds first Bungy Code of Practice was the result in 1989.
In the mid 90´ Stefan Roos from Sports Unlimited Germany and AJ Hackett, established a special partnership. Since than, thousands of people joined AJ Hackett Bungy Germany.
AJ Hackett Bungy is also a synonym and worldwide known for extreme jumps and worldrecords (watch extremejumps).
Since 1988, nearly 3 Million people jumped at AJ Hackett´s Bungysites around the globe.
